Live Earth, the world-wide concert in aid of awareness to climate change was a global success with famous acts from Joss Stone to Madonna. The concerts spanned from New York, Japan and even hit sunny Johannesburg! Climate change is a very important issue and everyday we can see the effects from the recent terrible flooding in England and snow in South Africa. The Polar Ice-caps are also receding at an alarming level. Scientists say that they cannot speculate that humans are the cause of the rapid change but have announced that there is a big difference in climate change since the industrial revolution!

This is a major debate for governments today and we may not see “real” change until they manage to agree but we all can make a difference if we have a few new rules to our daily routines. They are as follows:

  • Switch lights off when no-one is using that room!
  • Use energy saving light bulbs!
  • Don’t leave appliances on standby when you go to bed, simply plug them out!
  • Try a little recycling, it’s a lot easier than you think! Try using alternative transport for short journeys, the exercise will also make you feel better!

These are only small changes and if everyone does them then we will see a better world and a better future for the next generation.
