Bloemfontein E-mail

Bloemfontein is situated more or less in the centre of the Free State Province of South Africa and is in fact the capital of the Free State! The city has become known as the “City of Roses” by the locals and is the sixth largest city in South Africa. It is very accessible as a city as it lies on the main road and has air links and rail links in every direction, north, south, east and west! You therefore won’t have any excuses for not visiting this marvellous city!

When you visit Bloemfontein you feel a real sense of relaxation as it is very tolerant of all cultures and has a real sense of family values. It is therefore a great place to take the family. You will also be happy to find that the city is pristine and upholds a litter free reputation.

What keeps the past so alive is the humble and almost natural formation of an impressive architectural and historical heritage into the very life of a modern, developing city. For those of us interested in history, culture and beautiful buildings this is definitely a place that we would recommend.

There are many places to see there which includes the City Hall, Old Presidency, the Dutch Reformed twin tower church and the Orchid House. However a must see is definitely Loch Logan where you can have a braai (barbeque.) If you are worried about what to do for the kids there is Aventura Maselspoort, where you can enjoy various activities and watersports, the Bloemfontein Zoo and the War Museum, your kids are sure to have a great time!

Accommodation in Bloemfontein includes hotels, guest houses and lodges, self-catering accommodation and bed and breakfasts.
