Hartebeespoort is situated on the southern slopes of the Magaliesberg Mountains overlooking the Hartebeespoort Dam and beyond towards Pelindaba.
The Crocodile River feeds the dam.
The sight itself is breathtaking especially the drive i.e. the tunnels. The Magaliesberg Cableway gives you access to the highest peaks with a brilliant view of the area. Go on a walk up there and you are sure to find some Boer walls that were used during the Boer War (historians take note). Hartebeespoort is about an hour outside of Johannesburg.
Other activities and must sees in the area are the Snake and Animal Park, the Aquarium with fresh fish and marine animals. For those of us who like to use our hands in a creative sense there are arts and crafts shops all over the area. There is just so much to do in the area that you will need a couple of days to see it all!!
