Uvongo is just a couple of km's north of Margate on South Africa's Natal South Coast.
Margate is the bigger brother for sure but Uvongo has the charm and better waves. In summer (Dec school holidays) and over Easter near enough every family in Gauteng takes up the dangerous journey to the South Coast and North Coast of Kwa-Zulu Natal. It is a great family beach destination and your kids will never forget it! Most people end up in Durban and Margate, some north of Margate in St Lucia, but the smart people; they end up in Uvongo or the smaller towns on the South Coast like South Broom, Ramsgate etc. Nearly every beach from Port Shepston to the Wild Coast Sun has protected beaches (shark nets in place, safe for swimmers). Nearly all the beaches have good waves and are perfect for surfers. The beaches are clean and have enough space all with restaurants and cafe's to make sure you are catered for with cold drinks, food and ice cream.
