Whale in Hermanus

Sorry English grammar isn’t my strong point but here goes...
One of the most thrilling South African experiences I have had is my trip to Hermanus on the way to Cape Town. I will never forget the feeling of excitement and awe as we turned the last corner into the town and saw all the people milling about and heard all the oh's and ah's and then seeing my first Whale crash back into the water as he put on a display for the surrounding females. I had heard many times of other people’s accounts of this but to see it firsthand, up close and personal took my breath away. What was really exciting was how close the whales actually come to shore there.

Hermanus itself is a quaint little town hugging the rocky shore on the Indian Ocean and without the Whales it’s worth a visit in its own right. But the Southern Wright Whales coming there for their breeding season puts it up there amongst one of the most special places I have ever visited. It transforms tourism into an adventure and life experience. A point on the tourism front there are lots of really nice restaurants to sit and eat and drink in, that take advantage of the natural show going on just in front of them. Think about it what can be nicer than having breakfast overlooking the Indian Ocean with Whales frolicking for your entertainment.
