George, South Africa

It is situated halfway between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth on a 10km plateau between the Outeniqua Mountain and the Indian Ocean. It is one of the popular stop offs for the garden route. George is the 6th oldest town in South Africa! It is also very beautiful another definite picture spot!

George is a very special place with many amnesties such as banks, places to shop and things to do however still it manages to maintain its small town and country atmosphere of peace and tranquillity! The things to do there are visit the Slave Tree, an ancient English Oak planted by Landdrost van Kervel. It is called the Slave Tree because of the very large chain and lock embedded in the trunk; it has now been declared a national monument. Or why not visit the First Class School for girls and was started by a young new age woman who rebelled against the conservative ideas of the people that lived there. Finally it is a must to visit the King Edward VII.

The accommodation consists of guest lodges, guest houses, hotels and bed & breakfasts!
