This is a very beautiful part of South Africa situated about an hour west from Johannesburg. It is a stunning little village with a real family vibe. However the real attraction of Magaliesburg is its setting slap bang in the middle of a beautiful region of mountains, valleys, rivers and indigenous woodland. It is also home to a variety of birds!

Magaliesburg itself doesn’t have as much to do in terms of things to do within the village but its position allows brilliant access to the surrounding areas! What is in Magaliesburg however is little crystal shop full of every kind of gem that you can think of (perfect for gifts for those back in the UK.) It also has a real leather shop with everything you can think of made in leather.

As mentioned before Magaliesburg is perfect for its situation. For example in the Magaliesberg Mountains there is an opportunity to go hot air ballooning (great for honey mooners as it is a very romantic experience.) It is also a brilliant place for historians as it about 20 minutes drive from the Sterkfontein Caves where the earliest species of primitive man was discovered!

For those interested in art visit the Angela Eidelman Art gallery which is situated in one of the original cottages of the Magaliesberg. It is a very beautiful location and for those who enjoy culture, history, beautiful landscapes it is a definite must!
