Place of many waters is the translation of Tsitsikamma from the Khoi-San language. This is a good name for the place however doesn’t do it enough justice with its beautiful and scenic landscape. It also lies on the famous garden route. When travelling here don’t even dare forget your camera as you’ll need to remember this experience forever!
The Tsitsikamma National park is world renowned for its forests which is home to the giant Outeniqua yellowwood. This rare tree is a must see and an enlightening experience, especially for those keen conversationalists out there and those that just appreciate the earth! The tree takes you back in time as it has managed to survive unchanged for millions of years! Another thing to see there is the marine reserve in the National Park, it is Africa’s oldest! It hosts the vital preservation of marine fauna and flora!
A hiking trail there is highly recommended as Tsitskamma is renowned for its unspoiled and rugged coastline. The most famous trail there is the Otter trail. This place in other words is a photographer and nature lovers dream!!
Accommodation there consists of a village inn, guest houses and lodges, B & B’s and self-catering.
