The Berg River E-mail

The Berg River (also called Great Berg River) is a river located just north of Cape Town in the Western Cape Province of South Africa. It is approximately 294 km long with a catchment area of 7,715 km² and outlets into the Atlantic Ocean. About 65% of the Berg river area is under agriculture. The major towns in the Berg river area are Velddrift and Laaiplek near the coast, Piketberg, Hopefield, Mooreesburg and Darling further inland, and Wellington and Paarl in the upper catchment. The lead source of the Berg River is south of Franschhoek in the Drakenstein Mountains.

The Apies River E-mail

The Apies River is a river that flows through the city of Pretoria, South Africa. The river is also known as the Apiesrivier in Afrikaans (in which "Apies" means "small monkeys"), and is traditionally also called the Tshwane River by the indigenous peoples. Pretoria itself also came to be referred to as Tshwane by the African communities, after the river, and that name is currently the center of a controversial, politically driven attempt to rename the city itself to Tshwane.

The Liesbeek River E-mail

The Liesbeek River (also spelt Liesbeeck) is a river in Cape Town in South Africa. It is named after a small river in Holland. The first "free burghers" of the Dutch East India Company were granted land to farm along the river in 1657, shortly after the first Dutch settlers arrived in the Cape. The river was originally called the Amstel or Versse Rivier.

The Limpopo River E-mail

The Limpopo River rises in central southern Africa, and flows generally eastwards to the Indian Ocean. It is around 1,750 kilometres (1,087 mi) long, with a drainage basin 415,000 square kilometres (160,200 sq mi) in size. Its mean annual discharge is 174.288 m³/s (6,155 cu ft/s) at its mouth.[1] The Limpopo is the second largest river in Africa that drains to the Indian Ocean, after the Zambezi River.
