The Oak Lodge

Oak Lodge is situated along the False Bay coast in the peaceful town of Fish Hoek. Only 3 minutes walk from Oak Lodge is the sandy beach of Fish Hoek, one of the safest in the Cape for bathing and body boarding. When the wind picks up, hobie-cats and windsurfers take to the waves. From July to October whales come into Fish Hoek bay and loll around just 50 metres from the shore in preparation for mating and giving birth.

Oak Lodge is central to most of Cape Town's attractions. Within a radius of 50 km is the Cape Point Nature Reserve (25km), Table Mountain (35km), Cape Town Waterfront (35km), Constantia Wine Route (20km), Stellenbosch Wine Route (40km), Simon's Town - home of the South African Navy (10 km) and Kalk Bay, a delightful fishing village on the False Bay coast (3km).

Also close by is a shopping centre, Cape Point ostrich farm, 3 golf courses, mountain walks, Chapman's Peak Drive to Hout Bay and many more sights to see.

Fish Hoek beach is a well known and sought after safe beach, with its life saving and hobie/ski boat club. Weather permitting, local fisherman do daily net trekking. This tradition has been synonymous with Fish Hoek for ages. Apart from the lovely white sands, calm waters and various water sports, there is a lovely cat walk stroll path, know as Jager Walk, built in 1932, as well as restaurants, child play park and a huge parking area.

Exciting annual events include the 2 Oceans marathon and Cape Argus cycling tour that are both annually in March. The Cape Argus cycling tour is the world’s largest individually timed cycle race with about 35 000 cyclists tackling a 109km route around the Cape Peninsula. SA Navy day, when the public is allowed to visit naval surface vessels and submarines at the SA naval base in Simon’s Town, is also a popular event.
